ETC Energy For Education (ETCEnergy4Education.org)
ETC is working to create a lasting legacy by raising money to bring solar power to the classrooms and school community so the students in rural Uganda can extend their school day and get extra help and study time to increase their educational opportunities. If you help raise the funds for the solar power, ETC will not only send photos and pictures but will also post a recognition plaque with the name of your class or school on the walls of the Ugandan school.
ETC Bucks for Books Campaign
The Engeye Teen Connection (ETC) has launched a program “ETC Bucks for Books” through which they are working to purchase textbooks and other school supplies for neighboring schools. The teachers at these schools are trying to educate children without textbooks and the most basic supplies. Please consider making a donation. Any amount is appreciated and can do so much. ETC Speaks at Local High School
Engeye Teen Connection Board Member Sara Weinman had the opportunity to talk about her experiences in Africa to 100 amazing students at Schenectady High School. ETC is committed to spreading its mission and ideas to motivated teens. Contact Us if your group is interested in learning more about how they can get involved.
Engeye Teens Collect Soccer Supplies:
Through Afrim's Sports in Albany. NY (636 Albany Shaker Road) ETC has collected soccer equipment in drop-off bins to bring over to Uganda. This collection drive achieved overwhelming success as the bins continued to overflow with various soccer balls and cleats each week. Thanks to Afrim's Sports for their generous support of this initiatve, and thank you to all donors!
Engeye Teen Connection Cafe Night:
Engeye Teen Connection (ETC) has come a long way in raising money, and getting more and more teens aware and involved. ETC held its first Café Night Fundraiser which raised money for Engeye Scholars to help develop a craft business for the villagers of Ddegeya village and other related projects. The Café Night was a big success; many local teens performed musical numbers, and their friends and family learned about the mission of Engeye. ETC board member Adriana King also performed, complementing the bake sale and silent auction.
Girls Who Care: Pancake Breakfast
Engeye Scholars & ETC would like to thank Girls Who Care for their continued support of our programs. The Girls Who Care sponsored a pancake breakfast at the Buttery Restaurant in Albany, NY. The teens helped seat customers, served breakfast and cleaned up. The restaurant was packed for much of the event. The girls raised over $2,300 during the three hour event. The funds will be used to pay the sponsor fees for their sponsored scholar Jessica and pay for school supplies and uniforms for other children of the village of Ddegeya. Thank you Girls Who Care for your hard work on behalf of Jessica & the Engeye Scholars Program.
Birthday Teen Has Friends Bring School Supplies for Children of Uganda:
Lauren’s friends bring her school supplies for her birthday which she sent to children in Uganda.
Boght Hills Elementary School, Latham New York:
The students, faculty and families of the Boght Hills Elementary School “Pay it Forward”.
As part of their school wide “Pay it Forward” campaign, the Boght Hills School students collected school supplies and teaching supplies for the schools and students in and near Ddegeya Village in Uganda.
Voorheesville Middle School Builders Club:
The members of the Voorheesville Middle School Builders Club collected and sent hundreds of sneakers and shoes to Ddegeya village. The Builders Club is part of an international community service organization designed for middle school students. This “student-led” organization is sponsored by the local Kiwanis Club.
The children and families of the village were so grateful for their efforts.
Girls Who Care: Walk-a-thon
This incredible group of teens held a walk-a-thon and raised money for a refrigerator for the Engeye Health Clinic so that the clinic can store and dispense immunizations. Not only did they raise money to purchase the refrigerator, but they also purchased school supplies for the students and local public schools and they made a five year commitment to share in the sponsorship of Jessica, one of our newest sponsored scholars.
Teens Collect School Supplies at Murder Mystery Birthday Party
Brian Hickey asked his guests to each bring a school supplies to his home during his Mardi Gras themed murder mystery birthday party to help support children in rural Uganda.
Walk a Mile in My Shoes: Calvary United Methodist Church
The wonderful parishioners of Calvary United Methodist Church weren't kidding when said that they could help with the shoe drive for Ddegeya Village. To kick off this fundraising event, the children created 'Walk A Mile in My Shoes' t-shirts and went on to collect over 100 pairs of shoes for the village. Enough money was raised to cover the entire cost of shipping! (Pictured: The children at Calvary United Methodist Church show off their "Walk A Mile in My Shoes" t-shirts.)
